There are 100 reasons why I thank 2002. In no particular order, they are…
1. My Mama… no explanation needed
2. My Tatay…also no explanation needed
3. My maternal Lola, who will probably outlive all of us in the clan.
4. My paternal grandparents, for telling me I’m their favorite granddaughter, even if I know they’re lying.
5. All my relatives who continually dote mne.
6. All my relatives who spoil me.
7. All my kith and kin who neither spoil nor dote me, at least you’re around and you’re family.
8. My cousins, especially Arfie and Alvin, because they’re my siblings by heart.
9. Baby Dondon, the youngest brother of Arfie and Alvin, because he means the world to me.
10. Mico, who entertains me with his Asejere dance moves and because he’s a great fan of my cooking.
11. Maia, who has never protected me against any criminal but is still my favorite pet in the world.
12. My car that I abused and will always abuse
13. Our pick up that gets the whole family to places.
14. My Nokia phone that I lost
15. My Siemens phone that has withstood all the bumps and drops
16. SM malls, especially SM Bacoor, for being there when I need it
17. All the Showbiz personalities for entertaining me more than they know possible
18. The Amazing Race for taking me to places I probably would never ever go to
19. All the Survivor episodes for being something to look forward to when I go home
20. C.S.I. for showing me how our local forensic science is virtually non-existent
21. The movie, Life is Beautiful, for showing me that Life is Beautiful
22. Harry Potter Books for being simple and black and white.
23. Harry Potter Movies, Daniel Radcliffe, you stud you.
24. HBO, Cinemax, and Star Movies for letting me catch up with movies that I missed
25. Lord of the Rings Books, for immersing me to the middle earth
26. Legolas, the most handsome elf ever
27. All the brownies I ate, especially the ones I consumed when I was depressed
28. All the chocolates I ate, I will never give up on you my babies
29. All the spaghettis I ate for making me feel like it’s a birthday party
30. All the tuna cans I opened for satisfying my carnal desires
31. Blogger for taking care of souls like me
32. All the posts I made in Blogger, which meant not badgering anyone when I’m bursting with nonsense.
33. All the bags I bought, especially my backpack, which I hope will fly overseas.
34. My photography professor for telling us that the viewfinder sees differently from a human eye.
35. Anne Rice whose works I greatly admire
36. Audrey Hepburn who is really the love of my life.
37. My printer, that allows me to do all kind of stuff
38. My computer, the other love of my life.
39. All the gifts I ever received this year
40. My FM 10 camera
41. My Olympus Camera
42. My tape recorder. There was period in my life when I lost it and I realized I couldn’t possibly be a journalist without it.
43. Igan, my trainor from a daily broadsheet paper who has been the biggest chauvinist jerk I’ve ever met but was smart enough to introduce me to the works of Salvador Dali and the Dadaism period.
44. All the episodes of Charmed. For one hour every week, I am not alone in believing that demons, vampires, and other creatures of the night are beautiful.
45. The beaches that my relatives drag me to. Because I always realize how I love them whenever they enjoy the water and the waves.
46. My eyeglasses, without which I am nothing.
47. My books, my allies in believing that there is a destiny, and that magic happens in life, in love, and in just about everything
48. Booksale stores, for the Php10-105 books that definitely satisfies me
49. National Bookstore, for bringing books in the Philippines with low taxes. And for distributing special papers that I use for my craft(?)
50. Raphael, the healer, my archangel, my protector, and the bringer of comfort and warmth
51. My journalism classmates, some are assholes but most of them are really great. May they all get far in their careers.
52. Ate Rowie, my mentor, my friend
53. Ma’am Que for being my school mom
54. William Sutcliffe’s Are you Experienced?. For enticing me to buy a backpack
55. All my negatives, you will always be my comfort
56. All my film, I will always use you with respect and hope
57. All my photos which I will treasure forever

60. Internet Providers, for bringing the world on my doorstep
61. Betty La Fea… for being ugly and smart
62. Tomcat, for teaching me things I will never learn on my own
63. Flame, for appreciating things that I take for granted

65. All my nighttime escapades, may I have more chances and reasons to get drunk next year.
66. All the dares that I agreed to do. Like the time I acceded to Arfie’s persistence to take me to the middle of the ocean. I’m happy I’m still alive and didn’t drown, thank you very much.
67. My CD writer. For letting me bring my mp3 to places
68. Eraserheads. I swear, I know the lyrics to all their songs, up to their album, Cutterpillow.
69. Sitemeter for telling me how many hits my website had since… well since the time it was online
70. D.H. Lawence who’s Lies about Love remains my favorite love poem
71. Robert Frost’s The Road not Taken which has become my ideology in decision-making
72. My paranoia and imagination, more than enough companions for me
73. The Dmac (Diosdado Macapagal) road. The relief you have brought to me. Too bad it also filled the coffer of the pigs, which we call the government.
74. Jell-O. Especially the Literary flavor.
75. All the meat I’ve ever eaten. Chicken, beef, pork…What will I do without all of you?
76. All my professors who gave me a passing grade
77. To him, who I no longer love, but never ceased to amaze me.
78. To another him, who I still slightly love, I hope time will continue to work its magic.
79. Ronron, my soulmate. May we have more Anne Rice works to cover, share and ponder. May we also have more movies to laugh and gush about.
80. Laurice, my best friend in the whole wide world. Our communication may not be as frequent as we want it to, but I know our friendship and love is still there
81. Faye, my angel for life. My rescuer and my teacher in kalokohan. 82. Marian, the great believer of dreams. The reason why I can’t wallow in self-pity and enjoy my inferiority complex. She believes that we will, we must succeed.
83. Andrea, the action-seeker

85. Zhara. She taught me to believe in angels. She said these ethereal creatures are very good and useful companions. I concur.
86. Lei, for sharing her chocnut, even if I know she can probably eat a boxful of them without any help.
87. Patwee. I’m scared that if I don’t put her here, I might actually wilt and die from her stare the next time we see each other.
88. Gabby, for giving me the best-tasting Cadbury bar ever.
89. Leidy, for being someone I know I can always turn to when I feel like my strength and faith is starting to desert me.
90. Shayn, for having the capability of cheering me up and making me laugh even at the most trying times.
