After treating myself to a Meteor Garden Marathon for the past four days (I’ve watched the whole telenovela three times), I couldn’t wait for the sequels.
Unfortunately, it got bad reviews from a few netheads.
Most of them complained that it’s too long (True, Part II is actually 12 episodes longer than the first), and that there were too many coincidences and chance meetings between San Cai and Dao Ming Si.
So I thought before I stop eating lunch again just so I can afford part II, I want to know the story first.
So I surfed, copied, and printed 242 pages worth of the most comprehensive episode guides that ever saw in my entire net existence. Single space, Verdana 10, and had a half-inch for a border. It was 150% thicker than my thesis.
I truly admire the person who made those EGs. It’s a task that I know took a lot of time, patience, dedication, and lotsa a love for Hua Zei Lei (the author couldn’t keep her side comments to herself).
The part where Dao Ming Si met with a car accident didn’t came as a surprise as Lara Fabian’sBroken Vow made me frantic enough to research beforehand if my dearest actually died in that incident.
I’m not going to spoil anything. I swear. I’ll just give a few hints of what will happen in Part 2. (^,_____,^)
I agree that there were too many serendipity scenes. But well, so do most movies. You know the moments where the heroine would go out of the building at the exact time the hero enters it, so therefore they don’t meet? Too many of those in MG2.
Everybody has a love interest, even Chan Qing He. But I think the sweetest new couple would have to be Mei Zhou’s Cello-playing fiancé. Their love affair is more interesting than between Dao and Yesha (Played by Michelle Saram). And with everybody else for that matter.
Scenes from MG1 are reincarnated. Not in a flashback style, even though they are fond of that too. I mean some scenes are too reminiscent of Part 1, except perhaps a different character would do the same action. For example, there is a scene in MG2 where San Cai will throw the Meteor Ring on the road while she pours her troubles to Lei. Out of nowhere, Dao will appear and find it, and then he’ll be heartbroken. Déjà vu?
Of course, we can’t forget about mysterious Lei. I think more of his personality was revealed in the show. Like I now know that he sleeps at least 12 hours a day. I know likes sleeping, but I never realized how much. Like if he has to go shopping for a day, he has to sleep the next off.
All in all, I liked the printed version of MG2. Xi Men and Mei Zhou became more human. I no longer think of them as drunkards whose testosterone overload made them believe they’re God’s gift to women.
I like the role reversals. San Cai chasing Dao. Lei chasing San Cai. I only wished that it was really Lei whom she eventually end up with. That way, I’d have Dao Ming Si all to myself, ^___^.

Hua Zei Lei delivers a lot of nonsensical lines in MG. But somehow, he makes it sound like his words are deep. If and when I pushed through with my website (I still can’t figure out how ftp works), I’d have a whole section dedicated to his lines alone. I’d call it, “The Tao of Lei”.
In MG 2, this one’s my favorite: “Love and friendship cannot exist at the same time.”
I almost cried when I read this because I felt his longing for the person that he loves. Haaaaaaayy… Lei, I know a lot of sexy, beautiful, and wonderful women who’d be willing to be your lover rather than a friend.

I apologize for the non-MG fans, and all those people who couldn’t understand the heads and tails of what I’m saying… I couldn’t help it. I tried to stop, but I can’t… The pull is too powerful for me to fight.
Please believe me.

My bestfriend has threatened me that if ever she becomes a hacker, she'll destroy my website just because it suddenly became a shrine for F4...
We are also currently debating on the size of Jerry Yan's dick.
