We lost the Final Four to the De La Salle Green Archers. Though the rich and spoiled brats have somehow gained my respect this season, I still stand firm in my belief that UST deserve this year’s championship.

Made a promise with my friends that we will watch next year’s saga, together.

After the disappointing loss to the archers, we remained seated to let other frustrated Thomasians and smug La Sallians to crowd the exit doors.

I’m glad we did, because I saw the difference between the UE fans and Ateneo. Ateneo, with their Blue Bubble Battalion, stood straight most of the game. They clapped their hands with each made basket, and cheered together like their voices were, as Dexter would put it, like one harmonic fusion. If a camera would capture that moment, the fans would be a picture of dignity and élan.

UE, meanwhile, had a pathetic ensemble of drummers and cheerleaders. They probably don’t even have a title. But what they lack in drums, they made up for the crowd. More than half of Araneta were covered in screaming red. They were unruly, boisterous, and out of control. Too bad though, that they only alternate two cheers between them, because the warriors were a picture of fun.

********

I still wish that the Tigers won.
